How to change my address with Hydro One?

Hydro One operates 97% of the high voltage transmission grid across Ontario and positions itself as Ontario’s largest distribution utility.

You can change your address with Hydro One in two ways:

  1. Online through myAccount;

  2. Call Customer Service at 1 844 706-0148.

    • Mon-Fri: 7:30am-8pm EST.

    • Sat: 9am-3pm EST.

What kind of information should I provide?

  • Your current address

  • Your new address

  • Your moving-out date

  • If you are a tenant, the contact information of your current building’s owner or landlord

You might be wondering why you should provide the contact info for the building’s owner or landlord. That is because if you are a tenant moving out of a rented home, a new tenant might not be moving in right after you. So in the meantime, before a new tenant moves in, it is the owner’s or landlord’s responsibility to pay the electricity bills.

When should I notify Hydro One of my new address?

Did you know that Hydro One serves a total of 1.3 million customers in rural areas throughout the province of Ontario? That means a whole lot of people might request an address change at the same time as you! That’s why Hydro One advises to notify them at least five business days before your last planned day of service at your current address.

What if I am moving out of Ontario?

You will have to end your Hydro One service through myAccount. You’ll need to inform them of your move-out date, as well as your new mailing address. Hydro One requires your new mailing address even if you are moving outside of Ontario so that they can send you your final bill or a cheque if you have a credit balance.

Concerning your security deposit, Hydro One will return it within six weeks of you closing your account. The interest earned will be applied to your final bill and any excess funds will be returned to you at the new address you provide.
